READERS/LECTORS: This ministry is open to all parishioners beginning with students who have made their confirmation. Readers either proclaim the first or second reading at Mass, offer a welcome at the opening mass or announce the prayers of the faithful in the absence of a Deacon. If you have a clear and strong reading voice and are willing to be trained - then we would like to hear from you! Readers are scheduled on a rotating basis at the Mass of their choice and commit to serving one year at a time.
SACRISTANS: Sacristans are trained in the set up and cleaning of liturgical vessels used at Mass. These dedicated volunteers commit to a one or two year term on a rotating basis at the Mass of their choice. Training includes a half hour session and shadowing another sacristan for two to four weeks before being placed on the schedule. This is a hidden but rewarding work. Sacristans are asked to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to their scheduled Mass. Clean up after Mass takes approximately 10 minutes. Anyone who is over the age of 18 and is willing to be trained is welcome to apply.
MUSIC MINISTRY / CHOIR: Love to sing? Want to join an instant community? Consider joining one of our vibrant choirs! Music serves a variety of needs within the Mass. It gathers the voice of the assembly into one. It accompanies processions. It invites people to listen. Here at Ste-Anne's Parish we are blessed with two different styles of music. Our "Traditional Style Choir" lead by Thérèse Gadoury (official organist) can be heard on Sundays (and Holy Days) at the 8:30 a.m. French Mass and the "Traditional Four Part Choir" on Sundays at the 10:00a.m. Mass.
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION: This appointed ministry invites parishioners to assist in the distribution of communion during our weekend liturgies. Special care, training, and preparation and regular workshops are required for this ministry. The reception of the Eucharist brings us into the light and love of Christ. Eucharistic ministers are chosen by the pastor and are mandated for a 5 year term by our Bishop. Every two years, ministers are asked if they wish to continue in this ministry. Parishioners who have made their confirmation are welcome to apply. If you are interested in this ministry you are welcome to submit your application to :
LEADERS 4 SUNDAY FRIENDS AND CHILDREN'S CHURCH: Help our youngest members meet and get to know Jesus in a creative and relevant way. You can be a part of helping kids and students form a relationship with Jesus Christ that lasts forever! If you love children and are willing to be trained we would welcome you to apply! To be a ministry leader you need to be at least 18 years of age, be willing to fill out a brief application form and obtain a police clearance. (We will help you with this) Training in the program materials and safe environments is required. Shadowing an experienced ministry leader is recommended prior to beginning. Junior ministry leaders who are in grade 9-12 are welcome to apply! Junior ministry leaders assist ministry leaders in set up, providing the experience and in clean up. We welcome you to find out more!
ALTAR SERVERS: Ste Anne's Altar Servers are in a League of their own! We are launching an all new LEAGUE - not a baseball league but a team of young people that are playing for God at Mass! The new Ste. Anne's Altar Server League is a club for children and youth ages 7-18. To join you must have made your First Communion and completed training. Special fun events will be had throughout the year for members.
If you have a child or teen who is interested in joining this all new club at Ste Anne's, we will need your support in ensuring that they are available to serve at their appointed Mass and attend training. Younger servers will shadow senior servers prior to being formally "installed". For more information please contact our pastoral Minister:
ADULT ALTAR SERVERS: Adult servers assist the priest particularly at funeral masses but also weddings and other events where available / required. We are always in need of more servers who have time during the day because they work from home or are retired who can assist in this manner. Training is available for each new member and you are welcome to "try out" this ministry for a couple months before committing to a year term.
